Welcome to Mr. Beltran's Texas History class!

Course Description:

This course will help students discover and appreciate their rich Texas heritage. Class will be academically rigorous as well as to “Real-Life Relevant. Students will learn to analyze issues, make decisions, and realize the relevance of historical events that not only helped built Texas but also contribute to the formation of a great nation; course will introduce students with the Global Skills on how people of diverse backgrounds came to establish Texas.  Students will study major eras of Texas History from ancient Texan cultures to modern Texas. Students will be versed in technology as they learn about Texas history. The focus of this course will provide students the opportunity to apply critical thinking skills to research, organize, and use information from various sources, including primary, secondary, and electronic sources.  Students will show mastery and understanding of historical and geographical information about Texas, including the United States. This course will build a foundation in Texas and U.S. history, geography, economics, government, citizenship, culture, science, and technology. In addition, students will be taught to be Proactive Everyday by being problem-solvers. Even though it might seem hard at times, they shall be encouraged to try, try every day. Success in the classroom won’t be defined in terms of a competitive status among students but rather on individual growth.

In this class we will utilize social media and various computer programs and software. Please know that all communication between teacher and student will be professional and based solely on coursework and assignments. As per the Electronic Use Policy and the BYOD policy students will be disciplined for any inappropriate behavior. Students will only be allowed to use the LFCISD network and not their provider's Data service.
